As Parliament reconvened for the second part of the Budget Session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed lawmakers on the geopolitical developments in West Asia, emphasizing that the government is taking steps to limit any adverse impact on India.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman introduced the Corporate Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha. The House decided to send the bill to a Joint Parliamentary Committee to ensure comprehensive scrutiny. The proposed amendments target improvements in corporate governance laws, including those governing LLPs and companies.
In addition, the Finance Bill, 2026 is expected to be taken up soon, presenting the government’s economic plans for the next financial year. The Rajya Sabha, on the other hand, is currently engaged in discussions around the Appropriation No. 2 Bill.
The session resumed after a brief festive break, with extra sittings scheduled to maintain legislative timelines.
